To understand relation between Croatian politics and internet one should first know what can be found on Croatian political scene.

First of all there is an abundance of political parties in Croatia. On parliamentary elections in November we had 110 parties and independent candidates and thirteen of them have seats in the parliament. Two of them are major: HDZ (Croatian Democratic Union), a Christian-Democrat Conservative Party and SDP (Social-Democratic Party) left wing reformed socialists. Most of the political strugle is all about media wars between this two parties and the parties that are allied to them at a certain moment.

However there are of course the radicals: these of left wing, and extreme national-conservatives. They usually run into ruff political battles against all the others that oppose them.

A common belief in Croatia is that newspapers are mostly controlled by left wing oriented writers. However internet is full of right wing extremists. They are surprisingly well organized and the greatest obstacle in spreading their ideas are actually extremists from other nations.

Still most of the media space on internet is controlled by parliamentary parties. They are of course very well organized, professional and full of reporting resources.

Main page of HDZ provides strong propaganda by offering links to main newspapers and news in the party on regional and nation level. They also have links to government sites and >HDZtube< and there is a possibility of joining party online.

Main page of SDP provides information on recent events in the party and party programs and ideology. They also have a youtube link and they criticize current government a lot

Min page of HSP and HSS contain information about the long history of the parties and their recent exploits.

I guess the central Croatian blogging site is Blog.hr and finest news feed web site is Net.hr. These web sites contain up to date informations about all the major political issues. Currently top issues are Croatia-USA cooperation agreement and a new Law against discrimination.

Croatian political scene is very complicated and therefore internet discussions about it are such as well.

It all begins right here. A blog for discussion and reflections about the events situation and events in motherland.

I will use this post to set and explain the rules you should follow if willing to participate in discussion and organization of this blog.

RULE ONE:This blog talks about recent events but also events of the past that took place in Croatian lands. I urge you stick to this subject.

RULE TWO: All opinions will be respected and freedom of speech and mind is absolute. However there will be no insults and putting down the opponents.

RULE THIRD: The author of the blog maintains all the rights granted by his authorship
